How do I make voluntary after-tax extra contributions to my super?
After-tax voluntary contributions can be made in three ways:
- Through your employer as an after-tax deduction from your pay
- As a direct debit from your bank account or
- As an adhoc payment made by you directly to HESTA using our deposit slips or BPay.
How do I make before-tax extra contributions (salary sacrifice)?
Salary sacrifice is an arrangement between you and your employer that involves putting some of your gross (before-tax) salary into your HESTA account. The benefits of salary sacrifice may include:
- Income tax savings
- Super tax savings
- Flexibility to start, stop or change your contribution amount as you need to (subject to your employer's agreement)
- Simplicity of having your employer send contributions directly to HESTA on your behalf.
You should consider obtaining financial advice before entering into a salary sacrifice arrangement.
