Gross
The total amount (eg of salary or wages) before deductions have been taken away.
Growth assets
A general investment term for assets such as shares, private equity, commodities and some types of infrastructure and property, which provide investment returns (comprising both capital growth and income), which outperform inflation. Growth assets are expected to provide higher returns for higher risk compared to defensive (lower risk) assets such as fixed interest or cash investments.
