AUSTRALIA’s biggest industry super fund for health and community services has welcomed three new faces to its Board.
HESTA Super Fund’s new appointees are:
- Maree O’Halloran, a lawyer and Director of NSW’s Welfare Rights Centre with previous superannuation board experience;
- Prue Power, Executive Director of the Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association with a range of experiences across the health sector; and
- Tim Lyons, Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU), Assistant Secretary also with previous superannuation board experience.
The Fund’s new Chair is Angela Emslie - a HESTA board member since 1994 - and the Deputy Chair is Ged Kearney, ANF Federal Secretary.
HESTA CEO Anne-Marie Corboy said she was looking forward to working with the new Directors.
“With the new appointees we now have very broad representation from across health and community services nationally and their skills and experience will benefit our 680,000-strong membership base,” Ms Corboy said.
“I am pleased that we have also achieved gender balance on the Board, and the key positions of Chair, Deputy Chair and CEO held by women.”
HESTA is the super fund most often chosen by workers in the health and community service sectors and has $15b in assets. About 84% of its members are women.
