Jay Bonnington - appointed 01.01.2011
Jay has a degree in Commerce and an M.B.A., is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a FCPA. She worked for an international chartered-accounting firm and then moved into various industries as a senior financial manager. She moved to Australia in 1985 and undertook a number of senior financial roles within the Transfield Services Group, until 1995. She then held the roles of Finance Director/CFO of Yallourn Energy Ltd, Head of Financial Services with NEMMCO, National Director of CPA Australia, and National CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Australia until 2005.
Jay is currently a National Board Member of the St.John of God Healthcare Group, and a Director of the Port of Melbourne Corporation, Metropolitan Fire & Emergency Services, and Utilities Trust of Australia. Her community involvements are as a Deakin University Council Member, and the Lord Mayors Charitable Foundation.
In the past, she has held a number of board appointments in Health and other sectors, including being a Trustee of Health Superannuation Funds Ltd for three years until 2004, and Chair of Dental Health Services Victoria for seven years, until 2006. She continues to hold a portfolio of both government and non-government board appointments, chairing various board sub-committees of Audit and Risk, Finance and Resources, and also serves on Remuneration and Governance oversight committees.
Jay is married with two adult stepchildren and five grandchildren, and enjoys gardening and reading.
