HESTA makes superannuation administration easy. With a range of on and offline contribution options to choose from, and a helpful, dedicated call centre, HESTA's here to make super admin simpler.

Super contributions: your obligations

Employers have a range of super obligations to fulfil, but these relate specifically to super contributions.

Under the Federal Government's Superannuation Guarantee (SG) legislation, you need to pay super contributions for most employees who earn $450 (before-tax) or more in a calendar month.

The government requires you to pay at least 9% of those employees’ ordinary time earnings (called OTE) into a super fund on their behalf. We ask you to make those contributions to staff accounts by the 14th of every month.

You’re also required by law to forward us any member after-tax contributions you deduct from an employee’s pay. You need to do this by the 28th day of the month after the one in which you made the deduction.

We’ll send you a record of your contributions in a monthly contribution advice.
