HESTA appoints Tim Mitchell-Adams to newly created role of Chief Growth Officer


HESTA is continuing to build on its strong member growth track record, with Tim Mitchell-Adams heading up the Growth Team as Chief Growth Officer.


Mr Mitchell-Adams joins the Fund on the back of HESTA enhancing the leadership of its Growth Team in July, with the appointment of Joe Agius to General Manager New Business and Growth Enablement.


HESTA CEO Debby Blakey welcomed Mr Mitchell-Adams and Mr Agius to HESTA, saying their extensive leadership experience would help continue to deliver strong member growth.


Mr Mitchell-Adams will join HESTA’s Executive Leadership team as they lead the implementation of a new three-year strategy for the Fund.


“As part of our new three-year strategy, HESTA is embarking on an exciting new era of growth,” Ms Blakey said.


“Tim brings a strong track record of building and leading dynamic teams that deliver new business growth in competitive environments and across new markets,” Ms Blakey said.


“HESTA continues to build on our capability across the business. Having Joe and Tim join our leadership team will enhance our ability to deliver strong member growth that provides benefits of scale to members and deepens relationships with our partners.”


Joining the Fund in late August, Mr Mitchell-Adam’s career extends across wealth management/financial services, intermediated distribution, not-for-profit, start-up and educations sectors.


In addition to board responsibilities with a several charitable organisations, he has also provided consulting support to a UK-based start-up sustainability fintech. During this period, he helped develop organisational capability, delivering new business growth, financial rigor, HR support and CEO counsel.


Previously, he headed up the Australian Scholarships Group, where as CEO he successfully implemented a significant restructuring of the business to position it for future growth.


In a 30-year career across the financial services sector, Mr Mitchell-Adams has held a range of senior leadership positions including that of AXA/AMP Member Firms Managing Director. Prior to the AXA/AMP merger, he had spent well over a decade at AXA Australia, performing across various roles, including that of General Manager of Sales.

The re-imagining of the Growth function at HESTA saw experienced superannuation business development leader Joe Agius recently join the fund.


Mr Agius brings extensive experience leading business development teams that deliver strong new growth. Prior to joining HESTA, he was the National Manager – New Business at Aware Super and previously was State Business Development Manager at VicSuper.
