you're with a top super fund

Money magazine has recognised HESTA as a top super fund for our ESG products.

For 20 years, Money magazine has recognised Australia’s best financial products and services, and we’re proud to have received four accolades for our environmental, social and governance (ESG) products in the 2021 ‘Best of the Best’ awards.

What’s ESG exactly?

ESG takes a ‘member first’ approach to super which looks at an investment’s impact on people and the planet.

Many areas fit under the umbrella categories of environmental, social, and governance. They include climate change, affordable and clean energy, clean water, gender equality, human rights, affordable housing and sustainable cities and communities.

Why ESG matters

Australians collectively have $2.9 trillion dollars invested in superannuation assets. With such a large pool of money to manage on behalf of our members, we believe we have a responsibility to make sure the way we invest it provides a financial return and builds a sustainable world for our members when they retire.

Our investment strategy reflects our belief that members' best interests are served by supporting a healthy economy, environment and society. It's a powerful lens through which to identify opportunities that can generate sustainable long-term returns for our members well into the future, while positively impacting the world our members retire into.

This is why we became the first major Australian super fund to commit to reducing the absolute carbon emissions in our investment portfolio by 33% by 2030 and to be 'net zero' by 2050.

It’s also why we’ve invested in key opportunities including Nightingale Housing, a new model of financially sustainable, affordable housing and Glenview Community Services' Korongee Village, an Australian-first dementia care village in Tasmania. We’ve also invested in other projects that focus on solar energy, clean water and wind power

Through your super, we're committed to changing futures. That requires long-term thinking, aiming for best possible performance while minimising risk - and investing in the future of our planet and its people.
