Linda Kingston is a Member Education Manager in Queensland.

Linda Kingston is a big believer in superannuation as well as good financial advice. She has been working in the super industry almost since its inception – that’s about 25 years of experience helping members on a daily basis.

Linda has been with HESTA for three years, and it’s a job she loves. “Storytelling at the ‘coal face’ with real people who are doing amazing work is the highlight of my day. Seeing that light-bulb moment in a member’s eyes, when I have explained something and they now get it is very rewarding to me,” says Linda.

By being involved in member education, Linda has been able to make positive changes in members’ lives. “I remember conducting a workshop in Queensland with 10 HESTA members. I’ll never forget watching one member who - upon discovering that she was able to reduce her work hours but still keep her income by accessing her super - audibly sighed and dropped her shoulders in physical relief. It was really great to be able to ease a burden that I think she had been carrying for some time,” says Linda.

“The more members understand super, the more they can get out of it at the end,” says Linda. “Asking for help can sometimes be hard, or they may feel embarrassed, but having someone there to share a story or something similar that they can relate to may help.”

For Linda, she can see no better way to help contribute to the lives of HESTA members. “The majority of our members work in health and community services, who help us so much every day. I’m just happy I can help them create a healthy financial future.”
