Terms and conditions for nominating someone for the 2024 HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards.

Advancing Pedagogy and Practice

1. Finalists in the Advancing Pedagogy and Practice category will be invited to attend the HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards dinner on Thursday 19 September 2024 in Brisbane, where the winner will be announced and receive $10,000, courtesy of ME Bank.

2. All prizes will be awarded on the condition the finalists and winner agree to accept their prize in person at the HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards dinner held on the date listed in point 1 above. Finalists attendance at the awards dinner is not transferable. HESTA may alter its events at any time in response to Government recommendations related to social distancing measures, and if the best decision for the event is to move it online or even postpone, HESTA will advise attendees accordingly. Proof of vaccination status against COVID-19 may be required by the dinner venue as a condition of entry. In the event you are unable to produce such proof to the satisfaction of the dinner venue, you may not be permitted entry, and you release HESTA from all liabilities for such decisions except to the extent required by law (including the Australian Consumer Law).

3. The prize for finalists includes: 2 x tickets to attend the HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards dinner to be held on the date listed in point 1 above, 1 x return economy class airfare to capital city where the awards dinner is held  from the finalists' nearest capital city,  1 night’s accommodation in a standard twin share room at a hotel nominated by HESTA Early Childhood Education and Care Awards organising committee, close to the dinner venue and 1 x registration to the Early Childhood Australia National Conference.  All transfers to and from airports will be at the finalists' expense unless otherwise stated in correspondence. A credit card will be required to cover any incidental expenses in the hotel.

4. Each finalist in the Advancing Pedagogy and Practice category will be presented with an award in recognition of their achievement. The winner will be chosen from the finalists and announced at the HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards dinner to be held on the date list in point 1 above. The overall winner will be presented with an award, in recognition of their achievement, together with $10,000, courtesy of proud awards supporter ME, to be used for personal or professional development or further development of processes or services in the workplace.

5. The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.

6. Only those nominees that make it through to the shortlist will be notified by phone and/or email after the nomination close-off date by a representative of HESTA Early Childhood Education and Care Awards.

7. Finalist’s details such as: name, employer/workplace, and other details in relation to the nomination will be released to the media prior to the awards dinner.

8. HESTA, the HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards, ECA and ME, reserve the right to use any entries, photographs, video, media and / or articles of the finalists and winners of this award for promotional purposes. HESTA will contact the intended finalists / winners to obtain their approval to use any entries, photographs, video, media and / or articles for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes in any media with or without any further reference, payment or other compensation to the finalists / winner.

9. Finalists, and their nominators and seconders, and other referees including their employer, agree to be contacted by a representative of the HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards to verify any information submitted and the eligibility of the nominee.

10. Nominators must notify the nominees employer before making a nomination and complete the declaration prior to submitting nomination.

11. The Judging Panel’s decision is final and made at its sole and complete discretion. No correspondence will be entered into. The Judging Panel and organisers of the HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards retain full discretion in awarding prizes.

12. Award nominees retain responsibility to maintain an appropriate standard of professional conduct, and must immediately notify HESTA if they are or become the subject of any investigation, findings, judgement of current proceeding, including but limited to findings, in relation to fraud, misrepresentation or dishonesty, in any administrative, civil or criminal proceedings in any country, and must declare to HESTA if any standard of professional conduct has been compromised.

13. Award nominees retain responsibility to not engage in conduct which brings or has the potential to bring HESTA into disrepute.

14. HESTA reserves the right to, at any time, verify a nomination or nominee, and disqualify a nominee HESTA has reason to believe has submitted an entry not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, or has engaged in conduct that has the potential to bring HESTA into disrepute.

15. For every submitted nomination the nominee will receive one certificate in recognition of their contribution to the sector. Certificates will be distributed to nominators for presentation to their nominee after the awards take place on date indicated in point 1 above.

Individual Leadership

1. Finalists in the Individual Leadership category will be invited to attend the HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards dinner on Thursday 19 September 2024 in Brisbane, where winner will be announced and receive $10,000, courtesy of ME Bank.
