Andrew Roma from Feros Care in Coolangatta, QLD is a finalist in the 2019 HESTA Aged Care Awards

Recognised for developing technologies to help aged care staff more efficiently manage resident data and help residents to more easily care for themselves and connect with fellow residents from home. Working in the IT Department of Feros Cares, Andrew has a passion for making customers’ lives easier and more connected.

His wealth of IT knowledge has revolutionised the technology used by Feros in the aged care sector. With a futurist approach, Andrew envisaged senior clients embracing technology and managing their own services from home.

He has created several practical and affordable home-based technologies, including ‘Passport’ ‘MyFeros’ a phone app website which brings each clients’ personal data into one screen giving them an individual view of their aged care journey. Feros’s growth in size and capacity meant internal systems were struggling to deal with increasing client data.

Designed by Andrew ‘Passport’ is a Client Management System that’s helps decrease the amount of time staff spent on record keeping. Andrew has also developed the Virtual Senior Centre (VSC). Using a webcam and microphone, seniors can use the VSC to take part in activities and connect with one another from home. In an ever-changing technological world, Andrew considers it critical that he remains at the forefront of the latest innovations and technologies.
