With more than 930,000 members and close to $68 billion invested globally, our numbers are impressive. But we never lose sight of the fact it's not only about strong performance figures - it's about helping our members enjoy a retirement they've worked hard for. We're about creating brighter futures for our members. And, a better world for generations to come.
At HESTA, we invest in and for the people who make our world better.
HESTA Impact is about creating positive returns and positive outcomes for the planet and society through investing with purpose, advocating with influence, and leading by example.
We think and act holistically about how to achieve strong investment returns while contributing to a healthier planet and society. We do this to make a real difference to our members’ financial future, and to the world into which they’ll retire.
How we make an impact
Investing for long-term performance requires a long-term perspective on how investments improve the planet and society. Super is a lifetime strategy. HESTA invests for the whole journey.
By raising our voice to influence opinion, policy and culture, we’re keeping our promise to be a gutsy advocate driving meaningful change for generations to come.
We are proud to be a first mover and set a standard that generates social change and protects our environment.
The end of financial year returns are in, and over the long term, our investment performance has remained strong. Over the short term, it has been a challenging year for the world’s investment markets, and your returns this year might not be what you’re used to seeing.
We were the first major Australian superannuation fund to commit to reducing the absolute carbon emissions in our investment portfolio by 33% by 2030 and to be ‘net zero’ by 2050.

HESTA members may be able to claim a tax deduction for any after-tax super contributions made into their account.
Once the contributions have been made, the member needs to let us know that they’d like to claim a tax deduction for these contributions by completing the ATO’s ‘Notice of intent to claim or vary a deduction for personal super contributions form’.
We need to receive the form and confirm it’s valid before (whichever of the below comes first):
You’ll need their HESTA member number and some of our fund details to complete the form:

If a member joined HESTA after 30 June, they’ll receive their first statement next year – but contributions or payments, investment returns and other account details can be accessed via the member’s online account at any time.
Advice fees can be deducted from a member’s account if you’re a registered financial adviser or licensee with HESTA.
