Jason is a finalist in the Individual Distinction category of the 2018 HESTA Aged Care Awards.

This award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to aged care in Australia over time, through development or provision of high quality care to ageing Australians.

Jason Bragg is recognised for his passion and commitment to caring for nursing home residents.

Eager to make a difference, Jason has worked and volunteered for Opal Aged Care for over 14 years. In this time Jason has shown dedication to developing his skills, advancing from helping out in the kitchen, to now serving meals and making cups of coffee for residents. His ‘can do’ attitude, respect for his colleagues and passion for helping others has led him to become an integral part of the Opal team. So much so that he is now a permanent part-time employee, showing that even though Jason was born with an intellectual disability, it is no barrier to what he can achieve.

Jason says he's honoured to be named a finalists in the Awards.

"I am so pleased, honoured, excited and humbled to accept being a finalist in the 2018 HESTA Aged Care Awards. It makes getting out of bed at 5.30am each morning and having a job at Opal in the kitchen, which is my life, all worthwhile."

Jason has had a profound impact on the culture at Opal Aged Care with his love for caring for others shining through in everything he does.
