Investing in healthcare innovation
We're investing in innovative companies that develop technologies to improve health and wellbeing, while delivering strong investment outcomes for our members.
As the industry super fund for people working in health and community services, we use our deep connection to the healthcare sector as a genuine investment advantage. Our membership base gives us a depth of insight into how health precincts function, what drives demand for medical infrastructure, and where long-term value is created — insight we draw on directly when assessing healthcare property opportunities.
Two of HESTA's healthcare property holdings, Brenan Place at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Health Translation Hub in Sydney, reflect this sophisticated, sector-informed approach in action. Both sit in the same precincts where many of our members work each day. And both are long-term holdings, chosen for their potential to generate strong long-term returns while contributing to a healthier, more resilient health care sector.
A 12,000+ sqm medical office development in St Vincent’s Health and Innovation Precinct, Brenan Place has the capacity to accommodate up to 1000 workers across commercial office space, administrative and medical services, consulting suites and research and clinical trial spaces.
For HESTA, this is a prime example of how our deep understanding of our members’ industry translates into investment decisions, helping to inform our investment in high-quality healthcare assets. We are aiming to deliver long-term returns while supporting jobs and innovation in a critical sector where so many of our members work.
Brenan Place includes space available for lease to various tenants alongside St Vincent’s Health, including ancillary services, administration, education, and health services. As Australia's largest not-for-profit provider of health and aged care services, St Vincent’s projects to be a stable, long-term anchor tenant. The building comprises 12 storeys and has a 5-Star Green Star rating and 5.5-star NABERS Energy rating. It has been integrated into the restored heritage-listed Brenan Hall, which was constructed in 1889.
Brenan Place is co-owned by funds managed by IFM Investors and HESTA through our healthcare property mandate with IFM Investors.
We're not simply allocating capital, we're creating opportunities in the very sector our members have dedicated their working lives to.

HESTA is proud to be a major investor in the UNSW Health Translation Hub, a landmark 35,600 square metre facility at UNSW Sydney bringing research, education, patient care and industry together under one roof.
The UNSW Health Translation Hub, the first of its kind in Australia, was built with funding from HESTA (through our healthcare property mandate with IFM Investors), alongside IFM Investors' managed funds, UniSuper and Plenary Group.
Opened in November 2025 as a cornerstone of the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct, the Hub connects UNSW researchers directly with local hospitals, so discoveries in the lab can reach patients faster. As a healthcare property asset, the Hub is held for its projected stable, long-term income, diversifying HESTA's property portfolio. The building has already been recognised with the Industry Choice Award at the National Infrastructure Awards and, in 2026, named among the world's most beautiful universities by Prix Versailles.
