things to consider
Combining your super is straightforward, but it’s important to check a few things first to make sure it's the right move for you.
Insurance cover
When you combine your super, any insurance cover through your other funds will stop. Check what cover you have before combining. In some cases, you may be able to transfer eligible insurance cover to HESTA. Download the Insurance transfer form (PDF) to check your eligibility.
Personal and contributions tax
If you're currently making personal contributions to another fund and plan to claim a tax deduction, lodge a ATO Notice of intent to claim form with that fund first and wait for confirmation before combining.
Your employer contributions
If you're working, let your employer know you want future contributions to be paid into HESTA before you start the combining process. Complete the Choice of fund form (PDF).

how to combine your super online
The quickest way to find and combine your super is through your HESTA online account.
Get started
Have this information ready:
- Tax file number (TFN)
- Australian passport or driver's licence
- Medicare card
- Details of any other super funds if known (not required)
Log in to your HESTA account
Go to hesta.com.au/login and sign in with your member number and password. Open the menu in your account and click on the ‘Combine’ tab.
If you haven't set up online access yet, you can register here.
Verify your identity
The government requires an identity check to authorise the super search, so you’ll need two forms of ID. If you know the details of your other super account, you won't need to verify your identity.
Review your accounts and combine
We'll search for any other super accounts linked to you, so you can review and combine them in a click.
Combining takes up to 3 business days. You'll see the update under 'Transactions' in your online account, plus a confirmation letter in your inbox.
